Preparing Liturgies
The planning and preparation of our Sunday liturgies involves a number of parishioners offering diverse gifts, performing a variety of duties. The pastor wrestles with the Word, preparing to preach the Good News at the homily.

The Worship Committee attempts to keep the big picture in view, collaborating with the pastor as stewards of the Church‘s Liturgy. Music ministers plan and rehearse the music to be led by cantor, choir and instrumentalists. Sacristans and Art & Environment volunteers help to prepare the space for our prayer. Parishioners prepare General Intercessions, the Prayer of the Faithful. Readers study and rehearse the scriptural passages that they will proclaim. Catechists prepare a special Liturgy of the Word for young children. Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion come prepared to assist in the distribution of the Eucharist, or to bring the Sacrament to a shut-in neighbor. Servers don an alb and light the candles; greeters gather at the entryway. And of course, the assembly gathers, each bringing a unique offering to the Body of Christ.

The generous efforts of many parishioners enhance our common worship. How might your gifts become a gift to God and to the Church?
