Advent by Candlelight

Sunday, November 30 @ 6:00 pm – 8:30 pm
Church-Basement-Parish Hall (280)
3864 Flad Ave., Saint Louis, 63110, United States

Enjoy an evening of prayer, food, and reflection with your Parish sisters.

Register for our annual Advent By Candlelight dinner for women in the parish.  Welcome Advent this year with a quiet evening surrounded by other female parishioners, good food, and a beautiful environment. In the midst of a busy season, this is a night where you are welcomed exactly as you are, with or without any prepared or festive items to bring. If you’ve never attended, other women will tell you it is a night that replenishes their spirit, focuses their heart on Christ, and brings some joy to the preparation tasks of Christmas.

All women are invited to attend. Organize a table with your friends or register individually to be placed at a table with others. We want to spend the evening with you!

This year’s reflection titled The Most Wonder-ful Time: Advent Listening for the New Year and Beyond will be led by St. Margaret’s parishioner, Mary Lisa Penilla, a committed seeker and doer, wife to darling Dave and mom to Sarah Ann and Ben. Her faith was nurtured by devoted parents Antonio and Rose Ann, who entrusted her education to the RSCJs, the Jesuits, and Our Lady, Notre Dame. Thus rooted, her work blossomed through community organizing and advocacy, public health nursing practice, art program building, and currently project management in prevention science research. Her poem “Awakening,” about nursing home resident Marie, was published in the American Journal of Nursing in 2021 while starting coursework in Narrative Medicine. As we enter this Advent together, Mary Lisa will invite us to practice wonder, offering practices that promote reflection and connection, and that open us to God’s holiness, wisdom, and grace.
