Mass In The Grass + Parish & School Picnic 2025: The Parish & School communities celebrated Mass outside in Tower Grove Park on Sunday, September 7, with the Parish & School Picnic following immediately afterwards. It was a wonderful community gathering with over 650 in attendance!
The Exaltation Of The Holy Cross
~ This Sunday is the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, always celebrated on September 14, whether that is a weekday or a Sunday. This feast reminds us that the Cross of Christ is our victory over sin and death, and commemorates both the legend of St. Helen founding the true Cross in 320 and the dedication of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem in 1149. May we always glory in the Cross of Christ, our salvation and our hope!
At every Sunday Mass, a Cross of Christ leads our entrance procession. As you may know, earlier this summer, we started using the “Cross of Crowns” as our processional cross. This cross was donated by our Ladies Auxiliary and was painted by an anonymous parishioner during the time of Fr. O’Toole. Our parishioner Dave Reid recently adapted this cross to our existing pole and stand. It beautifully depicts the crucified Christ being honored by St. Louis of France and St. Margaret of Scotland, two earthly rulers who lay their own crowns before the crucified Lord. You are welcome to come into the sanctuary anytime to get a closer look!
