At Saint Margaret of Scotland, our commitment to continuous improvement drives us to listen closely to the voices of our community. In November, we conducted the Fall 2024 First Trimester Parent Check-In survey, and we wanted to share a few of the key findings and actionable insights that will guide us forward. This “Parent Check-In” conducted by the School Board is typically collected annually, two weeks after the first Trimester ends, as a chance to take a mid-year pulse to see where we’re at this school year.
The survey saw participation from 171 parents, offering broad feedback about our school’s strengths and possible areas for growth. Parents highlighted their experiences across academics, teacher engagement, communication, and more, providing invaluable perspectives.
Overall, results are good and show clear progress in areas previously highlighted, such as middle school programs and safety concerns. Notably, safety no longer appeared as a concern, reflecting the success of ongoing efforts to ensure a secure environment for all students. And despite some remaining questions about middle school and academics, almost every middle school parent that participated in the survey had something positive to say about the middle school – about the academic course load, elective system, and quality and communication from teachers. Other areas of strength in the school were our exceptional teachers, the academic excellence and support, and our vibrant community. Other opportunities for growth continue to be communication and increasing academic challenge.
We are committed to utilizing this feedback to enhance the SMOS experience for every family as we continue through this school year. We extend our deepest gratitude to the parents who participated in this survey. Your feedback is invaluable in shaping the future of SMOS. Together, we are building a school where every child thrives academically, socially, and emotionally.
