St. Margaret of Scotland Families:
As we begin the transition from September to October, I would like to highlight some upcoming parish and school events. We have several parish and school initiatives that you and your families may want to consider, especially in the realm of Catholic Social Teaching.
- Tonight, Thursday, September 25th, there is a Gun Sense Meeting in the Church Basement. The purpose of this meeting is to reflect on what’s been done so far and to plan ahead for what can be done in 2026. If you’ve been concerned by gun violence in the past several weeks, it’s never too late to join in the parish efforts to work towards a reduction of violence in our community.
- Our Parish’s St. Vincent de Paul conference is hosting a Halloween Coats & Costume Party on October 4 at Isaiah 58 to support local children by providing Halloween costumes and winter coats.
- The St. Margaret Immigration team has organized a solidarity pilgrimage from SMOS to St. Pius with five other South City parishes on Sunday, 10/5, to honor World Day for Migrants & Refugees.
- Respect Life is going to be running its Annual Baby Bottle Fundraiser again. The homeroom that raises the most money will win donuts with Fr. John & Axel.
St. Margaret of Scotland has a proud history of serving those in need by performing the Corporal Works of Mercy – feeding the hungry, giving drink to the thirsty, clothing the naked, sheltering the homeless, visiting the imprisoned, caring for the sick, and burying the dead. In this season of Stewardship, let us continue to support the work of our parish ministries by volunteering our time and treasure.
God Bless,
Patrick Holley
