St. Margaret of Scotland Families:
I am happy to again report on our school’s progress on our last round of NWEA test scores. For those who do not know, the NWEA test is the Standardized Test that our school takes in the Fall, Winter, and Spring. The test measures both our students’ achievement and their growth in the subject areas of math, reading, and language usage. Students in grades 2-8 participate in the test.
This Fall, our students collectively scored in the 79th percentile in math achievement, 81st percentile in reading achievement, and 82nd percentile in language usage achievement. These scores are incredible when you consider that this is the collective achievement of 300 students.
Another area that the test measures is student growth. We saw high growth scores this year as well. Growth refers to the number of students who achieved or exceeded their growth targets set by the test. Our students’ growth in language usage is 68% up from 64%, growth in reading is 61% up from 55%, and growth in math is 53% up from 38%.
While these are very good scores, I always caution people not to put too much emphasis on our Standardized test scores. These are just one way that we measure our students’ abilities and their success in school. Ultimately, our mission is to form disciples of Jesus Christ who are responsible leaders and caretakers of our community through works of service and social justice. As always, thank you for your support in that mission.
God Bless,
Patrick Holley
