General Music/Suzuki Violin Teacher

Betsey Karako

Elizabeth Karako (Betsey) is an active performer and teacher in the St. Louis area. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree with high honors from Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee, and a Master of Music in Violin Performance with an emphasis in Suzuki Pedagogy from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. Her violin teachers have included Elisabeth Small, Alison Gooding-Hoffman, Dr. Lenora Marya Anop and she has played masterclasses for Rachel Barton Pine and Zoya Lebin. During the 2013-2018 summer seasons, she served as Cabin Counselor, Unit Director and Associate Staff Director at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp in Twin Lake, Michigan.

Elizabeth’s long-term Suzuki pedagogy training was completed under the direction of Vera McCoy-Sulentic.  Elizabeth is registered through the Suzuki Association of the Americas for Volumes 1-10 of the Violin School, Suzuki in the Schools Levels I-II, Developing the Advanced Bow Arm from the Beginning, and Suzuki Principles in Action. Elizabeth is excited to build relationships and share the joy of playing music with students at St. Margaret of Scotland School.
