Fine Arts

The PTA Fine Arts Committee has grown out of the original Art@SMOS group – which was formed by a school parent who saw the need for a formal art program at St. Margaret of Scotland. For many years, parents taught art in the classrooms. As the school grew and the program evolved, an art teacher joined the staff to teach grades K-8.

The Fine Arts Committee now provides support to the art, music, and theatre programs and teachers in several significant ways.

Square 1 Art Fundraiser
Held in the fall, students create art that is transformed into gifts that are available for purchase. The funds are used to purchase supplies for the art program.  The PTA helps coordinate the sale of items to families in early December

Shaw Art Fair
Each year, student work from our art program is displayed during the Shaw Art Fair in October.  The Fine Arts Committee coordinates this effort by hanging art and overseeing the display throughout the weekend.

Fine Arts Events

Each year, the committee helps arrange and coordinate school assemblies, family events, and class field trips related to the fine arts.

Volunteers
Volunteers are often needed to help in the art room, with the Spring Musical, and with other special projects.
