The Mandeville Multicultural Fund

St. Margaret of Scotland Parish and School are committed to promoting economic and racial diversity. The Mandeville Multicultural Fund has been established to provide assistance to minority families who are not necessarily Catholic, who live in the city, and who desire an education at St. Margaret of Scotland School. The scholarship fund is maintained by contributions from parish and school families.

The Mandeville Fund was created in the 1980s by Sr. John Mandeville in partnership with a group of parishioners. The fund was established to create opportunities not available through the Diocese for children of all religions to study alongside Catholic children at St. Margaret of Scotland. Over the years, the Mandeville Fund supported dozens of children and their families. Some of these families were new to America. Others were a part of Shaw and surrounding neighborhoods for generations. All of them, as Sr. John well knew, enriched the fabric of the St. Margaret of Scotland community.

Today, the Archdiocese of St. Louis has fortified its scholarship offerings and expanded their reach to include children of all faiths and colors. These Archdiocesan awards have allowed the SMOS Mandeville Fund to grow as well, in continued support of our mission values of diversity and inclusion that are Sr. John’s legacy.
