Each year, every parish in the Archdiocese of St. Louis participates in the Missionary Plan of Cooperation, welcoming a Missionary who solicits funds and prayers for the Missions of the Church in the developing world. This year, St. Margaret of Scotland will welcome Rev. Maticha Nyarombe, A.A., representing the Augustinians of the Assumption (Assumptionists), the weekend of August 23-24, 2025.
From the very beginning, the Augustinians of the Assumption (Assumptionists) have been engaged in a wide variety of apostolic works. It’s a preference for the poor, in response to the Gospel and to the Church, calling them today. All Assumptionists try to live in union with the poor, because “the poor will always be with us”, because the poor are too often neglected even within the Church. This is a bias that the Assumption encourages.
The Augustinians of the Assumption Province of North America is specifically responsible for the missions in East Africa (Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania), Mexico, and the Philippines. They provide personnel and financial assistance that is indispensable in order to maintain their charitable works (schools and nurseries) and formation programs for both laity and clergy in these countries. Many of their apostolates in these countries specifically work to better the living conditions of the impoverished brothers and sisters they live with and minister to. In the Philippines, they sponsor education and aid programs for underprivileged villages both in the Manilla area and in other mission centers. Their parish in Orizaba, Veracruz, Mexico, ministers to an underserved indigenous community.
Please welcome Rev. Nyarombe to St. Margaret of Scotland and contribute to the work of the Assumptionists. Envelopes for the Mission Appeal will be in the pews and at the doors of the Church. You may also click the link below to donate directly from the U.S. Assumptionists website.
