Emergency Food Drive 2025

As Fr. Vien mentioned in his homily the weekend of October 25th-26th, Archbishop Rozanski has put out a call to all parishes in the Archdiocese to hold a food collection at the beginning of November to assist those who will not be receiving their essential SNAP benefits due to the government shutdown. You can read more about the Archbishop’s plea in his letter below.

Fr. Vien has asked the SMOS St. Vincent de Paul Society to take the lead on this effort. On the weekends of November 1-2 and November 8-9, 2025, there will be collection bins in the back of Church for parishioners to deposit the donated items. Please note that this is in addition to the Thanksgiving Food Collection for canned yams already being run by the St. Vincent de Paul conference. All items (including the canned yams) can be deposited in the same donation bins, and volunteers from St. Vincent de Paul will sort the items, and distribute them to Isaiah 58 Ministries and other local food pantries.

The following food items are most needed:

  • Canned chicken or tuna
  • Peanut butter
  • Canned chili, soup, or stew
  • Pasta and pasta sauce
  • Macaroni and cheese
  • Hamburger Helper
  • Knorr packaged sides
  • Rice
  • Instant mashed potatoes
  • Canned fruit and vegetables
  • Canned beans
  • Applesauce
  • Cereal
  • Granola bars
  • Oatmeal
  • Cooking oil
  • Powdered milk or shelf-stable milk
  • Baby formula
  • Baby food
  • Grocery store gift cards are especially helpful to help purchase perishable goods like milk and eggs.

Your quick response and compassion are a blessing to so many families throughout our Archdiocese who are struggling right now. Thank you for your generosity and care for those in need. Together, we are living the Gospel by feeding the hungry and offering hope where it’s needed most.
