On Friday, October 24, 2025, the SMOS Gun Sense: For the Common Good team held an ecumenical prayer vigil to mark the third anniversary of the Central Visual and Performing Arts/Collegiate School shooting.
The evening include communal prayer, music, and reflection to honor the lives of Alexandria Bell and Jean Kuczka, as well as all those who were present at the school that day and continue to be affected by the tragedy. It was a special evening, which included a beautiful rendition of “Let There Be Peace On Earth” from the play, “Come From Away” by the SMOS Choir. The family of Jean Kuczka, including her husband and her children were in attendance – her one son spoke at the service. They are very grateful that St. Margaret’s has continued to honor this solemn occasion. In addition to memorializing those lost in the 2022 school shooting, the vigil also honored all those under the age of 18 killed by gun violence in St. Louis City and County since last year’s vigil – their names were read aloud as part of the service.
