May the Spirit of St. Margaret Be With Us Evermore

~ We just celebrated the Feast On Flad, allowing us to reflect on ways the people of St. Margaret of Scotland continue to minister to the people of our parish, the children in our school, as well as to our neighborhood and beyond. I love being able to celebrate our patron’s feast day every year. St. Margaret of Scotland comes to life (sometimes metaphorically!), providing us with an annual opportunity to consider whether we, as a parish community, live up to her example of Christian charity and service. Seeing so many come to help prepare for the street party, minister at the Feast Day mass, and participation of those who have celebrated sacraments such as Baptism, First Eucharist, Confirmation, and Marriage this year is such an inspiration!
It is a joy and privilege to see how our children are growing in faith. Just as St. Margaret’s own children were formed and informed by her faith and actions, our children continue to participate in ways our parish serves the most vulnerable. The school participated in the Respect Life fundraiser for Our Lady’s Inn during October. They will also be helping to support our St. Vincent de Paul Society and our Immigrant and Refugee communities throughout Advent.
Our seventh-grade students attended the Archdiocesan Middle School Summit during Vocations Week. They represented our parish with pride and connected with middle school students from all over St. Louis. Some of our eighth-grade students helped prepare and facilitate the first of our class retreat days with the third grade. I wish everyone could see how well these students extend themselves in the service of faith formation for our younger students.
The spirit of St. Margaret is alive and well here. During this season of thanksgiving, we can truly be grateful that St. Margaret’s legacy continues because of the many efforts of our family of faith. May we continue to follow her example, carrying her charism forward into the world.
Throughout the year, we present an article in the bulletin each week on a variety of topics, written by a member of our Parish staff or ministries on a rotating basis.
