St. Margaret of Scotland Families:
Tomorrow marks the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception. This Solemnity represents the conception of the Virgin Mary without sin. This dogma was proclaimed by Pope Pius IX in 1854 – “The most Blessed Virgin Mary was, from the first moment of her conception, by a singular grace and privilege of almighty God and by virtue of the merits of Jesus Christ, Saviour of the human race, preserved immune from all the stain of original sin.”

In 1846, the United States Conference of Bishops, while meeting in Baltimore, adopted a degree naming Mary as Patroness of the United States. Pope Pius IX approved the degree and placed the United States under the patronage of the Immaculate Conception. As a result, in America, we celebrate this day as a Holy Day of Obligation.
We will be celebrating this Solemnity together as a community by having an all-school Mass at 8:15. Please feel free to join us for Mass if you are available.
God bless,
Patrick Holley
