Lots Going On At Our Weekly Mass!

St. Margaret’s students have had a great beginning to the school year. Our school’s eighth, fifth, and fourth grades have done a wonderful job planning and serving in liturgical ministries for our weekly all-school Masses on Wednesday. The other grades are preparing for their turns in the upcoming weeks.

Next Wednesday, one of our seventh-grade classes will take on the liturgical duties. And there’ll be an added element to that celebration – next week is also the annual “Sweatshirt Mass”, where Father Vien will give a special blessing to our eighth-grade students and they’ll receive their new eighth-grade sweatshirts. The students are really looking forward to this annual tradition for every eighth-grade class at SMOS. Parents of 8th-graders are welcome to come next Wednesday for the presentation. And as always, we welcome all our parents to join us in celebrating our weekly liturgies on any given Wednesday!

Also, this past Wednesday, our Diversity Council helped all our students to celebrate Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year holy day. Everyone received the traditional apples and honey at lunch. We were also treated to a demonstration by Hugo Hill, who showed us how the Shofar is blown and how it sounds. Further honoring Mr. Shorter’s memory, we will continue our commitment to inclusion and service. We will be exploring how others celebrate and pray as well as deepening our commitment to the faith life of our school community throughout the school year.
