Immigrant & Refugee Ministry

“Welcome!” This one word is the heart of our new Immigrant & Refugee Ministry. We strive to be a welcoming Church, a Church that Jesus would recognize. As we begin this ministry, consider how God might be calling you to get involved. Can you volunteer your time and talent? Can you donate? Can you serve as a bridge to other resources? Can you be the welcoming arms of Christ to those who are seeking to make our community their home? As Pope Francis tells us, “A Church which ‘goes forth’ is a Church whose doors are open.” (Evangelii Gaudium, 46), so let us open our doors and hearts to our refugee and immigrant sisters and brothers.

The representative for our parish on the IRM Board is Juliann Hesed.

About the Immigrant and Refugee Ministry (IRM)

The Immigrant & Refugee Ministry is a relational, welcoming ministry that strives to uphold the God-given worth and dignity of each person. Its mission is two-fold: to welcome, assist, empower, and advocate on behalf of immigrants and refugees regardless of their status; and to create bridges of solidarity among members of participating churches, volunteers, and immigrants and refugees. IRM provides services without regard to parish boundaries, religious preference, or ethnic or national background.

IRM is a grassroots effort that supplements the services that sponsoring agencies provide and augments services provided by the city, state, and community. IRM connects volunteers with immigrants and refugees to assist them as they make their homes here. In order to work for greater justice for those who have resettled in our community, IRM provides education and advocacy opportunities related to local, state, and national policies. IRM is a collaborative ministry of St. Anthony of Padua, St. Cronan, St. Margaret of Scotland, St. Pius V, St. Vincent de Paul, and St. Stephen Protomartyr.
